Engine Options

We feature the Cummins ISX, Detroit DD16, and sometimes the CAT C15, but most of our heavy spec trucks typically ship with these 3 engine manufacturers. These engines generally range between 400-600 horsepower, but mostly in the 550HP range, making them the perfect choice for long haul, logging, oil field work, and more.

Occasionally we may have consignment units in stock that may differ slightly in engine specs.

Suspension Types

Our used daycab trucks come with manufacturer equipped suspension systems like Airliner, Air Ride, Air Trac, Neway, Primaxx and more. Typically, the manufacturer spec suspension for our preferred brands of Kenworth, Peterbilt and Western Star day cab trucks, but International Machinery specializes in customization, so we can make changes if required.

Axle Options

While International Machinery specializes in heavy duty trucks that mostly feature a Tridem / Tri-Drive (tri axle) and / or a tandem axle, we can customize your day cab truck with a drop-axle conversion, or short-frame single axle if required.

Typical front-axle gross weight is 20,000 lbs and rear axle gross weight will fall in the 46,000 lb range for tandem axle trucks, up to 69,000 lbs for tri-axle trucks. Most day cab semi trucks fall in the tandem axle range for most work applications.

5th Wheel Options

Our day cab trucks usually come with their stock fifth wheel, either sliding or fixed, and can be custom fitted if necessary. Remember we can always add a 5th wheel assembly to a frame if required, just let us know what you need.

Transmission Options

Most of our used day cab trucks for sale are 18 speed manual transmission, but occasionally we have automatic transmission trucks available.

More About Conventional Day Cab Trucks

A day cab truck is sometimes referred to as a ‘conventional day cab’. Generally, this just means that the truck lacks a sleeper section for long hauls. Because of this day cab trucks are designed for use when the driver is not required to retire to the sleeper cab, and are best utilized for site work and on-highway use when the trip can be handled in a single day, or for trips that are a short distance.

That doesn’t mean that conventional day cab trucks aren’t considered ‘heavy duty’ however, since they are lighter and have a tighter turn radius, they are excellent trucks for hauling heavy equipment and more.

Most short-range day cab trucks are used for trailer hauling, lowbed trailers, dump truck boxes, towing and more, and are more energy-efficient than sleeper cab trucks. The lighter weight with the lack of a sleeper means that day cab trucks save on fuel costs while still offering the power and torque required to pull a heavy load.
